Memecoin launchpad glossary

These terms appear in the MemeFees tables, guides and statistics. Each definition gives the sense in which we use the term and links to the pages that use it.

Bonding curve

A contract that sells a new token from its own supply and sets the price from the amount already sold. Each buy raises the price and each sell lowers it. Most memecoin launchpads start every token on a curve.

Used on: Bonding curves compared, Tokens near the end of their curve.

Graduation

The moment a token reaches the end of its bonding curve. The launchpad stops the curve and moves the token to a DEX pool. MemeFees counts graduations per launchpad and the share of new tokens that graduate within 24 hours.

Used on: Graduation thresholds by launchpad, Graduation rate statistics.

Migration

The move of a graduated token's liquidity from the bonding curve to a DEX pool, such as PumpSwap, a Raydium CPMM pool, a Meteora DAMM v2 pool, PancakeSwap or Uniswap v4. Some launchpads charge a one-time fee for it.

Used on: Where tokens migrate, per launchpad.

Creator reward (creator fee)

The part of each trade fee that a launchpad pays to the wallet that created the token. The rate differs by launchpad, and on some it changes with the token's market cap after graduation.

Used on: Creator fees compared, pump.fun creator earnings calculator.

Platform fee (protocol fee)

The part of each trade fee that the launchpad keeps for itself. Together with launch and migration fees it is where launchpad revenue comes from.

Used on: How launchpads make money, Launchpad fee table.

LP fee

The part of a pool trade fee that goes to the liquidity providers of the pool, not to the platform or the creator. On the pump.fun curve it is 0%; on PumpSwap it is part of every market-cap band.

Used on: pump.fun fee calculator.

Fees and revenue

Fees are everything traders pay to use a platform. Revenue is the part of those fees the platform keeps after creator payouts, liquidity-provider shares, buybacks and similar. MemeFees takes both from DefiLlama.

Used on: Revenue as a share of fees, per launchpad, Fees and revenue in the methodology.

Settlement layer

A protocol whose fees are already counted inside other tracked launchpads, such as Meteora DBC under Believe and Bags. MemeFees leaves settlement layers out of market-share totals so the same fees are not counted twice.

Used on: Launchpad market share, Meteora DBC profile.

Lower bound

A count that can miss some events, so the true number is at least this high. MemeFees marks such launch counts with a plus sign or the words "at least", for example when a feed is sampled or a day is incomplete.

Used on: Memecoin launches per day.

Sample

The measured items behind a figure. A launch feed that sees only part of a launchpad's launches is marked "sample only, not a count" and shows no number. A rate needs at least 30 measured tokens before MemeFees shows it.

Used on: Launch counts and samples, Metric definitions.

Survival

The share of graduated tokens whose market cap 1 hour, 24 hours or 7 days after graduation is at or above their market cap at graduation. Only graduations with a market cap of at least $1,000, measured within 10 minutes, count.

Used on: Memecoin success rate after graduation, Survival statistics.

HHI (Herfindahl index)

A measure of how concentrated a market is: the sum of the squared market shares, from 0 to 10,000. A higher value means that fewer launchpads take most of the fees.

Used on: Launchpad fee rankings and concentration.

The methodology gives the full metric definitions, and the guides apply them across launchpads.
