We checked its fees, owner, custody model and referral terms against Moonshot's own docs.\n\n### Verdict\n\nMoonshot is a self-custodial iOS and Android app from Buy Moonshots, Inc. for buying memecoins on Solana with Apple Pay, a card or a bank transfer. Moonshot's fee page on 1 October 2026 lists a 2.5% fee (minimum about $0.99) on trades from $2 to $100 and a 1% fee on larger trades. Card and bank deposits add the fee of the payment partner.\n\nMoonshot is a real company with app store listings since July 2024, and Jupiter announced a majority stake in January 2025. Your wallet keys stay with you, so Moonshot cannot freeze or recover your funds. The app is easy to fund, but small trades cost more than on the pump.fun or Jupiter Studio curves, and most memecoins can lose all of their value.\n\n### Pros\n\n- Apple Pay, card, bank, PayPal and Venmo deposits through MoonPay, Coinbase, Robinhood, Binance and Revolut, by region\n- A self-custodial wallet on Turnkey infrastructure, with a secret phrase that you can export in Settings\n- Moonshot Create lists no creation fee, and creators get paid every hour once the unpaid balance is above $1\n- Create coins bond at a market cap of one million dollars and move to a full pool through Meteora DBC\n\n### Cons\n\n- Trades from $2 to $100 pay 2.5% with a minimum of about $0.99, which is more than the 1% to 1.25% curve fees at Jupiter Studio and pump.fun\n- MoonPay and the other payment partners charge their own fee on each deposit and withdrawal\n- During the TRUMP launch in January 2025, Moonshot reported an extremely high load and a backlog of support tickets\n- The referral bonus is iOS only, for the US and Singapore, and only while the memecoin supply lasts\n\n### Best for\n\n- New buyers who want to fund a wallet with Apple Pay, a card, PayPal or Venmo instead of moving crypto first\n- Creators who want to launch a coin from a phone and earn a share of each trade\n- Traders who want a self-custodial wallet and a recovery phrase they can export\n\n### Skip it if\n\n- You make many small trades. A $20 buy pays the minimum fee of about $0.99, or about 5%\n- You want leverage or tokenized stocks from the US, the UK or Canada. Moonshot does not offer them there\n- You want to trade tokens on Base or BNB Chain. Moonshot converts deposits from other chains into USDC or SOL on Solana\n\n### What is the Moonshot app?\n\nMoonshot is a phone app for iOS and Android that lets you buy and sell memecoins on Solana. Its help center calls it a self-custodial wallet app, not an exchange. When you trade, the app sends your swap through the Jupiter aggregator to Solana DEXs. Moonshot does not hold your funds and is not the other side of your trade.\n\nThe app also has Moonshot Create, a tool to launch your own coin, which went live in June 2025. Outside the US, the UK and Canada, the app also offers tokenized stocks (xStocks by Backed) and leverage of up to 250x on SOL, ETH and BTC.\n\nMoonshot is a different product from the old DEX Screener launchpad with the same name. Moonit's docs say that its classic curve is the same curve that \"Moonshot (by DEX Screener)\" used. The Moonshot app at moonshot.com comes from Buy Moonshots, Inc. and is a separate product.\n\n### Is the Moonshot app legit?\n\nYes, Moonshot is a real app from a named company. The terms of use name Buy Moonshots, Inc., with an address in Miami, Florida. Buy Moonshots, Inc. is also the seller on the Apple App Store, where the app first appeared in July 2024, and the developer on Google Play. On 25 January 2025, Jupiter's founder posted on X that Jupiter had acquired a majority stake in Moonshot.\n\nOn 18 January 2025, Moonshot posted on X that the TRUMP memecoin website named Moonshot as the way to buy. In the same post, Moonshot said that it had an extremely high load and was working through its support tickets. We found no report of a hack of Moonshot or of lost user funds from a Moonshot fault, and no enforcement action against Buy Moonshots, Inc.\n\nMoonshot's docs do not say that Moonshot holds a license of its own. The card and bank payments go through partners such as MoonPay, Coinbase and Robinhood, and the docs say these regulated partners hold your funds during a deposit or withdrawal. We did not place test trades, and we could not check how fast support answers today.\n\n### Is Moonshot safe? Custody and account security\n\nMoonshot gives each account an embedded wallet that uses Turnkey's multi-party computation (MPC) system. In MPC, the key is split, so no single party holds all of it. You approve each transaction with a passkey, such as Face ID or Touch ID. Moonshot's docs say that the company cannot see your keys and cannot freeze, move or recover your funds.\n\nSelf-custody has a cost. If you lose access and do not have your recovery phrase, Moonshot cannot help you. Export the secret phrase in Settings > Export keys and keep it offline. Moonshot says that its support team never asks for your login code or your secret phrase, and that a blue \"Official\" check shows a link to a known person or brand, not an endorsement.\n\nThe coins are the larger risk. Anyone can create a coin, and unknown airdrops can be scams. A bonding curve sets the early price of a coin, but it does not create future demand.\n\n### Moonshot fees\n\nMoonshot charges by trade size. A trade from $2 to $100 pays 2.5%, with a minimum of about $0.99. A trade above $100 pays 1%. The docs split the fee into a Moonshot fee and a crypto fee for network and routing costs, and the app shows the breakdown before you confirm. Price impact and slippage are separate, and the default slippage tolerance is up to 5%.\n\nThe minimum fee makes small trades expensive. A $20 buy pays about $0.99, which is about 5% of the trade, before the deposit fee. MoonPay charges its own fee on each card or bank deposit and withdrawal, and the amount depends on the payment method. A crypto deposit that is already on Solana costs about 0.1% to swap, and a deposit from another chain costs about 0.25% to bridge and swap.\n\nSends between wallets carry no Moonshot fee, but the network fee still applies. Leverage trades have their own schedule: 0.20% with a $0.25 minimum on trades from $5 to $100, 0.10% above $100, and a borrowing fee that grows every hour while the position is open.\n\n### Deposits, withdrawals and payment methods\n\nTo fund the wallet, open Holdings and tap Deposit. Moonshot lists five payment partners: MoonPay, Coinbase, Robinhood, Binance and Revolut. Between them, they accept debit and credit cards, bank transfers, PayPal, Venmo and Apple Pay. The methods you see depend on your region, and your deposit arrives as USDC or SOL.\n\nWithdrawals to a card or bank go through MoonPay, Coinbase or Robinhood. You can also send crypto to any Solana address. Blockchain transfers cannot be reversed, so send a small test amount first.\n\n### Moonshot Create: launching a coin and creator fees\n\nTo launch a coin, you give a ticker, name, image and description, then pick an optional first buy and your creator fee share. The Create guide lists no creation fee. Buyers trade on a bonding curve until the coin reaches a market cap of one million dollars. The coin then bonds, which means its liquidity moves to a full pool through the Meteora DBC program, and it gets a purple \"Created on Moonshot\" badge.\n\nCreate coins carry a dynamic fee of 0.5% per trade before bonding and 0.3% after bonding. The creator earns 0.25% of each trade before bonding and up to 0.15% after, at the share set in the create form. Moonshot pays creators every hour once the unpaid balance is above $1.\n\n### Moonshot referral code and bonus\n\nThe Moonshot referral link on this page uses the code AIFvZS on moonshot.com. Moonshot runs a limited iOS bonus for US and Singapore card or bank depositors, while supplies last. To qualify, you install the app on iOS, sign up through a referral link, use a real email address and make a deposit with Apple Pay, a debit card, a bank transfer, Venmo or PayPal.\n\nThe bonus terms say that the reward is memecoins from a pool funded by third-party sponsors, and that both users must pass identity checks before they get them. The terms list the odds: most rewards are memecoins worth about $3 at the time of the claim. If you do not see a \"Referral bonus\" banner on the home screen, your account is not eligible or the supply has run out. Separately, the person who invites you earns a share of your trading fees, paid in USDC.\n\n### Moonshot vs pump.fun and FOMO\n\npump.fun is a launchpad for traders who already hold SOL in a wallet, and its 1.25% curve fee is lower than Moonshot's 2.5% on small trades. FOMO is another trading app, with a public trade feed, a leaderboard and trading on more chains than Solana. Moonshot fits best when you want to pay with Apple Pay or a card and keep your own keys. See pump.fun vs Moonshot and FOMO vs Moonshot for the fee terms side by side.\n\n### Moonshot fee table\n\n| Cost | Amount | Note |\n| --- | --- | --- |\n| Trade, $2 to $100 | 2.5%, minimum about $0.99 | Split into a Moonshot fee and a crypto fee for network and routing.
